Consumers in addition to your 8 rights you also have the responsibility to:
1. Protect yourself by:
- Shopping carefully and wisely
- Understanding the terms of the sale
- Getting guarantees in writing
- Saving receipts
- Asking questions at the point of sale
- Keeping informed about new products
2. Tell others about any unfair treatment by a retailer or manufacturer so that other consumers can protect themselves in the future.
3. Demand the best value for your money.
4. Read through any contract before signing so that you have a clear understanding of all the terms and conditions especially a Hire Purchase Agreement.
5. Report apparently unsafe merchandise to Consumer Protection Agencies.
