Ask Your Travel Agent The Relevant Questions
Travelling should be fun. Whether you are traveling for business or pleasure, you need to make the most out of your trip and to have as few complications as possible. Consumers have the right to information when spending money on goods and services. There are instances when consumers fail to ask the relevant questions that could assist them in making a decision.
With the rise in travel agencies available, many consumers purchase airline tickets through a travel agency. However, there are times when consumers exercise their option not to use a travel agency but instead purchase tickets directly from an airline company. Although this may better suit some consumers, there are many benefits to be derived from those who use the services of travel agencies.
Before engaging the services of a travel agency be sure that they are IATA (International Air Transport Association) certified and a member of the Trinidad and Tobago Travel Agents Association.
Travel agencies:
- provide more choices and options for travel,
- quote lower package fares,
- provide advice and guidance,
- provide professional and personalized services,
- stay abreast of the most current and timely promotions, and
- enhance your trips with value-added benefits and amenities.
Although there are many competent and trustworthy travel agencies, consumers need to ask certain questions before purchasing plane tickets. You should ask your travel agent the following:
- Does the quotation include all taxes and charges?
- Is a deposit required and what does it apply to?
- Is it refundable and what are the procedures?
- What are the terms and conditions of the ticket sale?
- Are there penalties for changes or cancellations?
- How do I make a claim and how long does it take to process?
- What are the deadlines for paying in full?
- Who do I call in case of an emergency?
- Is a Visa required for a particular destination?
In order to minimize last minute problems from occurring before traveling, confirm and re-confirm bookings.
Remember, the power is yours!
