Consumer Consultation And Representation

Principles

   
 

Consumers should be consulted and allowed to express their views, in particular, through organizations concerned with consumer protection on all issues which affect them directly or indirectly.1

Mediation - where an authorised officer acts as an intermediary and conveys each party's views in an attempt to arrive at a mutually acceptable resolution.

Conciliation - where an officer brings the parties together and encourages a mutually acceptable resolution of the dispute.

Arbitration - where a panel, which may include the investigating officer, the Senior Consumer Liaison Officer Advocate , the Director - Consumer Guidance, reviews the facts on both sides and renders a final decision.
