PRINCIPLES AND PRIORITIES OF CONSUMER POLICY:
M. PUBLIC UTILITIES
- Principles
- The Public Utilities provide essential services and therefore consumers, should be assured at all times of efficient, reliable and affordable services.
- Priorities
- Government will strengthen national policies to improve the supply, distribution and quality of the services of the utility. Due regard will be paid to customer needs in the choice of appropriate levels of service, quality and technology, the need for educational programmes and level of community participation;
- The rights of consumers to fair pricing and compensation for loss or damage should be guaranteed in the laws governing and regulating these utilities.
